Well now that I know that I'm not the 75 % or 60 % ..I'm all good. I think i should get an 83%  or 85%. I know I have talked but I did pay attention. I had a lot of fun interesting conversation about awesome topics.

Jared Diamond

Jared Diamond is an American scientist, author, anthropologist, and teacher. He is from Boston, Massachusetts. He went to Harvard College.  He has written many books including "Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies" which was his 3rd book but most popular out of all of them. He specializes in the Gall Bladder.  He’s made many trips to New Guinea.  He currently teaches at UCLA. In 2008, he wrote an article for The New Yorker. Two men that were stated in the article a year later sued Diamond for 10 million dollars. 

"Guns, Germs and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies" is a book written by Jared Diamond.  It was published in 1997. It’s won a Pulitzer award and the prize for best science. In 2005, a National Geographic special on aired on the book. In the book, he discusses why on different continents history has been discovered and told differently.  He talks about Eurasia and the different agricultural advantages it has. One of them is grain in which it can be stored for a long period of time so it can be used and bought more.  He has sold millions of copies worldwide.

Today in class, we watched the 3rd part to our video. Its called The Peoples Capitalism of China. During the video, the computer we were watching it on kept playing ads in the background.  Then we switched to someone else computer so that's good. No wonder a lot of people are mad about how our products we buy are made in China.!!! This video has taught be a lot about China's economy. 

Definitions

 Capitalism- a economic and political system, characterized by private corporate ownership of capital goods 

Communism- a revolutionary socialist movement to create a class less and stateless social order 

free enterprise- a system with few restrictions are placed on ownership and business activities. 


free market- a economic system where prices and wages are determined by the companies, not regulated by the government.

Today in Human Geo we got our tests back. I didn't do as well as i thought i would. I will try harder for the next test. We also started watching a movie on economy and are taking notes in our notebooks. We have 3 more full weeks of school left and then we have mid terms and then Christmas break! I need to start studying Human Geo so i can get an A on this Mid- Term !!!

Afghanistan

Declared independence on August 19, 1919.

They declared independence from Britain after the Treaty of Rawalpindi in 1919. The British fought three wars with Afghanistan. The first was fought in 1839-1842 and led to the massacre of the whole British force in Jalalabad. The second one was in 1878-1880 and the British won bringing  the Afghan rebellion to an end. The third in 1919 led to the independence clebrated every year throughout all of Afghanistan.


Brazil
Declared independence on September 7, 1822.

On September 2, 1822 a new decree with Lisbon’s demands arrived in Rio de Janeiro. Princess Matia Leopoldina met with the Council of Ministers and decided to send a letter to her husband telling him to proclaim Brazil’s independence. The letter reached the Prince on Septermber 7, 1822 and 322 years of colonial dominance of Portugal over Brazil ended.

France
Declared independence on July 14, 1790.

On July 11 the people of Paris stormed the Bastile, a prison in Paris which had often held people jailed on the basis of lettres de cachet. Shortly after the storming of the Bastile, on August 4 feudalism was abolished and on August 26, the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen proclaimed.

Declared independence on October 3, 1990.

Into the 1980’s, the Soviet Union experienced a period of economic and political stagnatoin, and they correspondingly decreased intervention in Eastern Bloc Politics.

Declared independence on August 15, 1947.

India attained freedom fdue to an independence movement for large peaceful nonviolent resistance and civil disobedience led by the Indian National Congress.   Iran- Iran achieved independence on October 24, 1979. Before Iran was independent it was called Persia.

Today in Human Geo we got our tests back! I got an 44/ 52. 3 people I know had a  birthday today! We went over the answers and that took up most of the class considering we had an assembly today.

Judaism:

Judaism is a monotheistic religion. It was founded in 1500 BC. It has 13.4 million followers. They believe in God. They have a holy book called the Torah. Judaism and Christianity are similar because they both believe in and use the old testament of the bible.

Buddhism:

                Buddhism was founded in 6th century BC. It is neither monotheistic or polytheistic. Buddhism doesn't believe in one God or many gods. They have a holy book called the Tipitaka. They have 350–500 million followers, mostly in Asia. There prime figure is Buddha.

Hinduism is the 3rd largest religion in the world. It was founded in 5500 BC. It is a monotheistic religion. Its holy books are called Vedas. They are guidelines of the ways of life. They believe that there's a spirit inside of them that is eternal.

Christianity:

Christianity was founded around the 1st century. Its a Monotheistic religion and  Christians use the bible. It has 2.2 billion followers around the world and is the largest religious group. They believe God. Christians are found all around the world mostly in North and South America, and Europe. The least about is found in the Middle East and China.

Today in class we finished watching the God Grew Tired of Us video. I'm happy that two of them got to reunite with there family's. I can't imagine what its like living in the situation they lived in, in Sudan.
